Commentary :

Gravettian lithic industries are characterized by the production of high quality flint blades.

The Gravettian flake end scraper is generally made on a sub-circular flake, selected from the waste products of blade production. The selected flake must have an active edge that is both sharp and robust.

The flake end scraper completes the range of different scraper types, used during the Gravettian period.

This tool is used to slice and scrape hard animal or plant materials, such as bone, dry skins, sinew, antler or wood.
